The month of Ramadan has deep significance for Muslims. It is a time to reflect and give back to those who are less fortunate. Life cannot be fulfilling or rewarding if we do not extend a helping hand to those who need it the most. For Muslims, Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a religious obligation to give a part of one’s income to the poor.

Bidyanondo is an educational voluntary organization founded by Kishor Kumar Das. It started its journey with just 22 students at Narayangonj 2013. Currently, it has 11 branches nationwide with hundreds of student and international volunteers, two orphanages in Ramu & Rajbari, one home for the elderly and one primary school. Besides these, Bidyanondo has conducted some unique and innovative programs such as One Taka Meal, One Taka Medical Aid, Training Center etc.

The organization has several options listed for those who want to give their donations online. They have programs to sponsor iftar and seheri for the homeless as well the option to sponsor Eid gift and clothes for orphaned children which the organization itself makes. They also provide the option to pay Zakat through their institution.

Bidyanondo has been arranging Eid Festival for underprivileged children and distributed 5,000 clothes in last 3 years. They have a target to distribute 250,000 Iftar-Sehri packets among underprivileged people. In the past, they have distributed over 23,600 packets of food during Ramadan. This year they are planning to provide clothes and food to even more underprivileged children. If you are interested in donating to their cause, you can do so by using the website: https://bidyanondo.org/

For those interested in giving back, another option is Rising Star Charity Bangladesh. The organization was founded 5 years ago by Abir Ahmed Khan. In 2017, they distributed aid amongst 1500 flood affected people in Sirajgonj’s Naogaon. They also operate food distribution campaigns every Friday.

Since the inception of the organization, they have been working to spread the joy of Eid to the less fortunate. In their first year they distributed Eid clothes amongst 100 individuals and with each passing year they have strived to increase that number. This year they are planning to distribute Eid clothes amongst 300 people. Furthermore, they are also planning to organize an Eid party for 50 underprivileged people. Those who are interested in taking part in their charity campaigns can do so by contacting them through their Facebook page: Rising Star Charity Bangladesh.
