Bangladesh team leader Khaled Mahmud has contracted corona virus on Saturday, as a result, he is unable to join the team that is going to start the series against Sri Lanka.

He is in isolation at home after being infected with the virus. Sujon observed mild symptoms of virus as was feeling cold for several days.

Mandatory Covid-19 tests before entering the team bubble however, revealed that Mahmud has been infected with the virus.

“He [Mahmud] tested positive and is in isolation at his home. We don’t need to appoint another team leader [director] as we are playing Sri Lanka at home. It is easy for the board to monitor the team.

So there should not be any problem regarding the role of the team leader,” said BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan to the media Saturday.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that someone else may be seen as the team leader of the Bangladesh team as Sujan has been ruled out.
