Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from a rented house at Alam Dockyard area of Rangamati district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Muhaimina Islam Urmi, 29, wife of Senior Judicial Magistrate Rayhan Chowdhury of Rangamati Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
According to Rangamati’s Kotwali Police Station, initial assumptions suggest that Urmi may have taken her own life due to alleged marital discord. The body was recovered and sent to Rangamati General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Confirming the incident, Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Shahed Uddin said, "The body was found hanging in their rented apartment at Bonrupa Alam Dockyard area. An investigation is underway in this regard."
