Lowest daily Covid deaths in 4 months, infection rate 4.61%

Bangladesh registered 24 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday which is the lowest in four months. The total number of deaths has reached to 27,337 with the latest figure.   

The country recorded 1,144 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,548,320, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 4.61 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.21 percent.

Among the 24 deceased, 10 were men, and 14 were women. 11 of the deceased were from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, three each from Khulna and Sylhet and one from Rangpur.

A total of 24,820 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday.

During this period 1,653 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,507,789 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.38 percent.

As of Thursday 4,734,891 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 230,982,390 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
