The police members of Shailkupa police station have arrested seven robbers involved in looting a jute-laden truck from Shailkupa in Jhenaidah on Wednesday night. The looting incident took place on Kushtia-Jashore highway under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
The miscreants were arrested from different places of Jhenaidah, Jashore and Phultala upazila of Khulna, while the truck was seized from Churamankathi area of Jashore. The arrested seven were identified as Saiful Islam, Pintu Mia, Sujan Roy, Imran Khan Sagar, Manirul Joarder, Abdus Salam and Nahid Hasan.
Shaikupa police station officer in charge (investigation) Mohsin Ali said a gang of miscreants in the night of Wednesday had looted a jute laden truck from on Kushtia-Jashore highway under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah in the night of Wednesday while it was marching towards Jashore. The truck and goods were owned by Akij Jute mills limited.
Following a case filed by Akij Jute mills, the police started investigation, arrested the seven and seized the looted jute from Kalamanahali of Jhenaidah Sadar . Later the truck was seized from Churamankathi of Jashore. The arrested were sent to a Jhenaidah court after filing a case with the police station, Mohsin Ali said.
