There is no other alternative to following hygiene rules with the countrywide lockdown set to be lifted on a limited scale amid the rising number of coronavirus deaths and detections.

It is good to note that the Health Ministry has issued a 13-point health guideline for offices which includes wearing masks at all times when outside, maintaining social distance, and disinfecting office spaces.

These guidelines should be strictly followed by all concerned and the violators of these guidelines must be held to account. In this critical situation, we must abide by the government guidelines issued to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

Once the shutdown ends government and private offices will return to business as usual. In this regard, any breach of social distancing rules and health guidelines may cause the outbreak to rapidly get out of control. Hence, general people as well as law enforcers must remain on the highest level of alert.

We have to adopt some new practices to quell the spread

of coronavirus as we cannot afford the closure of all

businesses and offices for a longer period of time

While people around the world have been relentessly trying to maintain social distancing in a bid to fight the deadly coronavirus, many people in Bangladesh just do not care less about it to contain further spread of the virus.

Despite the government announced lockdowns for the entire country, people in Bangladesh did not maintain social distancing. Every day, hundreds of people gathered at local bazaars, with little to no precautions taken and we cannot afford such negligence anymore. The government must take drastic measure to compel people to maintain social distance.

We know the virus will be with us for a long time unless there is a vaccine, so we have to learn to live with it and have a functioning economy.

We have to adopt some new practices and restrictions to quell the spread of coronavirus as we cannot afford the closure of all businesses and offices for a longer period. Considering the situation, we urgently need a pandemic strategy that is more economically and socially sustainable than the national lockdown.
