Bangladesh coaches might have a chance to lead teams in the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League as the decision is yet to be taken in this regard.

The announcement made by BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan came two days after BCB formally stated that local coaches can only assist the foreign coaches in the upcoming edition of BPL.

BCB director Mahbub Anan recently stated that in the upcoming BPL each team will have one director leading the sides while he added that they have got good amount of foreign coaches interested to be part of BPL while each team will have an overseas physiotherapist and trainer and local coaches can only work as assistants to the head coaches in the upcoming edition.

The decision was widely criticized as it was believed to be an act that will discourage the local coaches while two time BPL champions coach Mohammad Salahuddin even insisted that BCB should bring foreign directors to guide their organization.

Akram said that everything is not over as far as local coaches are concerned as they will take a decision regarding the local coaches in the upcoming meeting of BPL governing council. ‘’It is not like all the seven coaches will be foreign,’’ BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.

‘’I was not present in the meeting; My question is those who have done well why won’t they have a chance. Even they can have a chance and it is totally dependent on the next meeting because nothing has been finalized yet. We will make a decision at that point and those who have done well naturally their name will be considered,’’

Bangladesh Mohammad Salahuddin has won BPL twice while Khaled Mahmud has won it once in the six editions hosted so far while Ian Pont won it twice and Tom Moody earned it once so far.Meanwhile, Bangladesh's's local coaches took a swipe at the BCB for not allowing local coaches took the helm of a team in the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League.

‘’This decision implies that we do not have enough quality coaches in our country but this is not true,’’ said Nazmul Abedin, who had recently left BCB to join BKSP as he was not given enough opportunity in the BCB.

‘’This coming November we will be celebrating 20 years of test cricket and I am really scared that we have not able to produce a good coach that just shows how bad situation we are in,’’ he said.

‘’I do not know the logic behind these decisions. In the last couple of BPL

local coach team has done really well and local coaches have made champions,’’ he said.

‘’This is quite sad and it would be morally discouraging for the local coach who really wants to see themselves in a higher position,’’ he said.

‘’I do not think nobody will be very eager to coach. Those of them have the ability to coaches will also look for another alternative and this decision will bring lot of negative impacts,’’ he said.

I really do think BCB officials believe we have qualified coaches despite there are one or two or four-person who has the coaching ability,’’ he said.

For some reason they do not want to employ those coaches this is a questionable decision for such a big organization. BCB has to take the blame for taking this decision. We cannot produce any quality coach in the last 20 years of test cricket,’’ he said.
