Litton recalled for ODI series against Sri Lanka when Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 16-man squad with bringing changes.
Bangladesh squad for the upcoming threematch series in Sri Lanka scheduled for July 2, 5 and 8 sees several notable changes when Mohammad Naim, Shamim Hossain, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Mahmud are the others to be recalled as Bangladesh rebuild following disappointing Champions Trophy campaign.
Litton returned to ODI fold when the T20I skipper was excluded from the Champions Trophy and enduring a lean ODI run (just 35 runs in eight games), has been recalled. Selector Gazi Ashraf emphasized that extended exposure in ODIs will give him the time to regain form ahead of the T20 World Cup.
"Litton Das was in a bad patch but time is the best healer. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup," Ashraf said. "If someone has to return to form, it is best to spend a long time in the middle. We feel that Litton can take his form from ODIs to T20Is."
Meanwhile, lefthanded opener Mohammad Naim, last seen in ODIs back in September 2023, earned a recall thanks to stellar domestic form—scoring over 600 runs in the recent Dhaka Premier League.
Fast bowling attack reinforced with Taski Ahmed and Mustafizur returning.
To manage their workload and ensuring flexibility and rotation, BCB included five fast bowlers (also Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan) alongside pace shearhead Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.
Gazi Ashraf about Naim inclusion siad, "Naim has shown that he can bat with the same intensity as our white-ball openers. He has done well in the Dhaka Premier League. We also have someone likeSoumya Sarkar, who has ten years of international experience. He was dropped because we wanted to help him recover fully, so that he can come back properly.”
