The nomination as a Mayoral candidate for RCC from AL has almost been finalised. Successful Mayor for two terms, Presidium Member of AL AHM Khairuzzaman Liton is once again poised to contest for the post, a reliable source of the party informed.
According to sources, on Sunday noon RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton met with the AL President, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Gonobhaban and returning from there Liton informed the AL leaders in Rajshahi that he would contest for the RCC Mayoral post once again. AHM Khairuzzaman Liton further mentioned that he would collect the party's nomination form on Monday and submit it on Tuesday. Thereafter, he will start election campaigning in Rajshahi.
Asaduzzaman Asad, formerly Gen Secretary of Rajshahi district AL in this connection informed at present there is no alternative to Liton in Rajshahi city. So far as he knows, the party high command has finalised his (Liton's) nomination and directed him to collect the form and submit that.
