Four persons including two women and two children were killed and two others injured when lightning struck them inside a mango orchard at Chalk Kapasia village under Charghat upazila on Monday afternoon. Two injured persons have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The dead persons were identified as Aleya Begum(55), Mukta Khatun (35), Parash(13) and Sohan(10).
Syeda Samira, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Charghat informed six persons including two women and four children were plucking mangoes inside an orchard at Chalk Kapasia village of Charghat during storm and rain on Monday afternoon when they were struck by lightning. Being hit by lightning, Aleya and Mukta died on the spot while four were injured.
The injured persons were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where children Palash and Sohan succumbed to their injuries. Two other injured persons have been admitted to RMCH. Their condition is stated to be critical.
