Land put on 3-day remand

A court here on Thursday granted three days’ police remand for a surveyor of Upazila land office in a scam case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office in Narayanganj over embezzlement of Taka 42 lakh.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammed Asshams Joglul Hossain granted the remand prayer after hearing of the case.

Court Inspector Assaduzzaman confirmed the information adding that the case investigator of anti-corruption commission on Thursday prayed 3 days’ police remand in the corruption case of chief accused Kawser Ahmed.

The court concluded the hearing and passed an order for remand.  

Earlier on January 18, a team of Anti-Corruption Commission arrested a land surveyor named Kawser Ahmed, 43, from in front of Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner’s office in connection with a 42 lakh taka bribery incident.

The Ministry of Public Administration has ordered the removal of ADC (Rev) Salahuddin Monjur and attached him with in the ministry as an OSD officer. 

The district administration also shifted two senior assistant commissioners Khadija Begum from Land Acquisition (LA) officer to ICT officer and placed Arnika Akter in the LA officer post.

The corruption network and case is based on Panchavati to Muktarpur flyover project, land survey, fix up compensation and paying that.

Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Haq said that the transfer of a public servant is a routine work. Except these I have no opinion in this regard.
