In the Lalmai Upazila Parishad election, Finance Minister Ahm Mustafa Kamal's nephew, Comilla Government College's former VP Finance Minister's elder brother Abdul Hamid's elder son, Chairman candidate Kamrul Hasan Shaheen, (boat symbol), Comilla Lalmai Government College's former principal, Comilla South District Awami League Vice President Chairman candidate Abdul Momin Majumdar, (pineapple symbol), Lalmai Upazila Awami League leader Harunur Rashid (cup symbol), Upazila Jubo League convener Motaleb Hossain (lock symbol), Mizanur Rahman (glasses symbol), Nazma Akhtar (lotus flower), Mahmuda Akhtar (football Symbol), seven candidates with Madhuchandra Banik (Kals) symbol are contesting the Lalmai Upazila Parishad elections. Meanwhile, no candidate of BNP is participating in this election.
On the other hand, the local leaders think that the high command of the Awami League failed to prevent the rebel candidate in the election.
As a result, several candidates of Awami League are participating in the election as rebel candidates. In 9 unions in the upazila, 1 lakh 48 thousand 68 voters will vote on March 16. The boat candidate and Awami League's rebel pineapple symbol candidate are going door-to-door to voters in remote areas of villages in 9 unions of the upazila in election campaign day and night. Meanwhile, BGB, RAB, Ansar, and sufficient police have been deployed to make the election fair. Election commission and upazila administration have taken all preparations.
