Lakshmipur journos get PM’s aid

From the special fund of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tk 330,000 were distributed among the journalists of Lakshmipur as financial assistance on Thursday.

In order to deal with the Corona situation, a total of 33 journalists were given a cheque of Tk 10,000 each in the first phase of the distribution. The cheques were officially distributed at the open stage of the deputy commissioner's office.

Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner Anjan Chandra Pal was the chief guest at the distribution programme organized by Lodhipur District Administration in collaboration with Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Mohammad Safiuzzaman Bhuiyan presided over the function while, Additional Superintendent of Police Mongnethoi Marma, District Awami League General Secretary Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan and Lakshmipur Press Club President Hossain Ahmed Helal were present as special guest. Deputy Director of the Department of Family Planning Ashfaqur Rahman Mamun and District Information Officer Mohammad Monir Hossain  were present at the occasion.

At the time, the speakers said, journalists have been working as frontline fighters since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite being plagued by various problems due to the ongoing crisis, the journalists are still continuing to perform their duties. In this situation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stood by the journalists with financial support which is really admirable.
