Lady Ansar al-Islam militant held

Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested a female operative of the banned terrorist outfit Ansar al-Islam from the capital Dhaka.

She was identified as Zobaida Siddiqua Nabila, 19. She is an HSC candidate of a college in Lalmohon upazila under Bhola district.

Md Asaduzzaman, DMP's Additional Commissioner (CTTC) at a press briefing at DMP media centre on Sunday confirmed it.

The CTTC official said, the first ever female Ansar al-Islam terrorist was arrested from her relative's home in city’s Badda area on Thursday.

He claimed that Nabila is the first arrested female member of Ansar al-Islam.

We produced her before a Dhaka Court and the court granted her on a five-day remand in a case filed with Badda Police Station.

In 2020 the lady militant with a fake Facebook account connected with the militant group through its Facebook page Titumir Media. She later learned about Jihadist content.

She started to privately communicate with the admin panel of  the pageAt one stage the admins  added her to the group's official site and other pages.

Nabila used to upload radical content through Facebook pages. She maintained accounts on several encrypted messaging platforms including Telegram and ChirpWire.

She used to conduct at least fifteen  channels in her Telegram accounts. More than 25,000 accounts were following her telegram channels. She was also sharing extremist content, bomb-making manuals and strategies of attack in the channels.
