Kurigram railway station gets new appearance

The Kurigram railway station has got a new an appearance after the dilapidated structures was demolished and a new one was constructed, an official said. 

The quality of passenger service has also increased as well following the launch of Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express, he added.

Last financial year, an old one-storey building was demolished and a new 6,000-square-foot two-storey building was constructed at a cost of Tk 1.9 crore.

The new building is equipped with various facilities including officers’ rest house, restrooms for general passengers and VIP passengers, and ticket counters.

The platform has also been extended to 1300 feet from 600-feet with installment of tiles on the parking base and extension of boundary wall.

Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer of Lalmonirhat Railway Division Abdur Razzak and Assistant Engineer Saidur Rahman Chowdhury told the reporters that they have checked the quality of construction of new building, boundary wall and platform extension work. 

No defect is found and authorities concerned expressed satisfaction over the quality of work, they added.
