Authorities have finally pulled out of the process of building a hospital at CRB, a historic site in Chattogram's natural beauty.  People from different walks of life, including heroic freedom fighters, leaders and activists of political, cultural and environmental organizations, took part in the movement against the construction of a private hospital on railway land in the city's famous CRB.

In addition, various organizations have been carrying out a series of protests for a long time.  An alternative proposal to move the proposed private hospital construction project on railway land in the CRB is going to the next parliamentary committee meeting.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways held in May this year proposed to build a United Group medical college and hospital under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) at another place (alternative place) of the railway instead of CRB.  At the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury proposed to set up the hospital in the abandoned Chest Disease Hospital area of Kumira Railway in Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram District.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir visited the abandoned chest hospital area in Kumira on Sunday.

He said that anything can be done in such a beautiful and pleasant environment.  I heard that for a long 30-35 years, a huge part of the railway has been lying in an abandoned condition.  The parliamentary committee has a proposal, we will see the place and give a report.

He said that the natural environment here is very captivating.  A few days later a technical team will come and they will look at the place and give a report.

Also present during the visit were GM of Railways Md. Jahangir Hossain, Chief Estate Officer Sujan Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Abu Jafar Mia, Divisional Real Estate Officer Mohammad Mahbubul Karim, Divisional Railway Manager (Acting) and other senior officials of Railways.
