Kumar river erosion intensifies in Faridpur town

Two houses have been devoured and 10 more are threatened to be washed away as the erosion covering a huge area at Bhatilaxmipur Fakirpara beside the river Kumar under Faridpur Municipality has been intensified resulting a panic among the residents of surrounding areas. 

Local people, however, complained such river erosion has been caused due to an unplanned excavation of river and not using the excavated soil for the purpose of dumping beside the river rather to sell that to the brick kilns. They apprehended, many houses will be devoured in the river unless no speedy measure is taken to check it. 

Affected Rahim Sheikh informed, last night he came out of the house by hearing a cracking sound and soon after wards, his house was creacked and devoured in the river. Another resident Raju informed, his kitchen, toilet and the tubewell have been  devoured by the river and the living room is also threatened to be eroded at any moment. 

Local Social Worker Shahariar Kadir Rubel informed, such erosion is caused due to unplanned excavation of the river. He calls upon the government to assist the affected people as soon as possible.

Executive Engineer of Water Development Board, Faridpur Sultan Mahmud Tuku in this connection informed over mobile phone that he was soon sending the concerned official to take necessary action.
