KU declares programme marking Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

Khulna University authorities have taken up a yearlong programme in observance of the Birth Centennary of the Father of Nation and the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh. 

Dr. Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University disclosed the programme at a press briefing held at the conference room of Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Administration Building of the campus on Thursday morning. 

The programmes include: setting up a Research Centre on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh, observance of various yearlong  national  programmes ( like the Victory Day, International Mother Language Day, National Children's day, Independence Day, National Mourning Day, Jail killing day, Intellectual Martyred day, Mujibnagar day etc.) in a befitting manner, setting up of a Mural of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the main gate of the campus, construction of Main facade of the varsity,  introduction of short ICT training course for people of surrounding areas to create efficient man power, observance of  programme in every discipline of the varsity at a particular day, setting up an Archive at the varsity in observance of birth centennary of Bangabandhu and 50-year celebration of independence of Bangladesh and setting up ' Bangabandhu and Mukti Juddho Corner' at the central library of the university. 

Bangabandhu Professor and Syndicate Member of KU Dr. Muntasir Mamum spoke at the press briefing detailing the programmes. He said, among all universities, Khulna University declared first such programmes and the declaration of setting up Research Centre on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh, creation of efficient man power through rendering ICT training to the surrounding people and establishment of an Archive at the varsity in observance of Birth centenary of Bangabandhu were completely new and innovative programmes in the country.

Professor Dr. Fayek Uddin said, he wants to turn KU into a quality university and sought cooperation from journalists in this connection. 

The press briefing was attended, among others, by Treasurer Professor Sadhan Ranjan Ghose, Syndicate members Professor Dr. Hosne Ara, Professor Dr. Anisur Rahman, Professor Dr.Ayesha Ashraf, Professor Dr. Abu Shamim Mohammad Arif and Registrar( in charge) Professor Khan Golam Quddus.
