Kohli also surpassed another Tendulkar record during his memorable knock against New Zealand. He became the highest run-getter in a single edition of the tournament, breaking Tendulkar’s record of 673 in 2003.

The former India captain is the first in history to breach the 700-run mark as well.

India were put in to bat first by Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

And in what was an eventful start, India lost three wickets inside the first 11 overs including that both openers Shubman Gill, Rohit and in-form Shreyas Iyer too.

This is the third time India have made it to the final of an ODI World Cup and the first time since 2011 when they became the champions. On the other hand, Australia are the most successful team in world cup history, having won the title a record five times so far.
