Kishoreganj man to die for killing sister-in-law

A Kishoreganh court sentenced one to death in a murder case at Kuliarchar Upazila on Monday  (February 24). 

The convict  is Basir Uddin, son of Monir Uddin of village Laxmipur under Kuliarchar Upazila of the district. He is also fined Tk. 1 lakh under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code. The other five accused were  acquitted from the charge.

Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict. 

As per the prosecution, the convicted person murdered sister-in-law Ambia Khatun over a family fued on May 2 in 2002. 

The victim's uncle Kayes Uddin filed a case against one person with Kuliarchar Police Station. Police investigated and filed a charge sheet against the six people, including Basir, on October 24, 2002.

The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Jibon Kumar Roy on behalf of the state and Advocate Khitish Debnath for  the accused.
