Kings unbeaten and remain top

Defending Champions Bashundhara Kings thrashed Dhaka Abahani by 4-1 in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday. 

Argentine forward Raul Becerra broke the deadlock in 18 minutes of the match and put the Nilphamari side in advance. It was Raul’s ten goals in this season. Iranian defender Khaled Shafiei scored second goal for the team within seven minutes. Star-studded Bashundhara Kings took lead with 2-0 in the first half. 

In the second half the Kings side became more aggressive and netted two goals within 25 minutes. The team scored their third goal in 51 minutes and this time Becerra passed the ball to his team-mate midfielder Fernandes Reis, and he scored. Conceded three goals Abahani got frustrated and helpless. They really have nothing to do at all. 

Bashundhara Kings show their capability and enjoy the match. In 76 minutes Becerra became hero again. The striker beat Abahani’s defender and goalkeeper netted the ball inside. This was his second goal of the match and 11 in the season. Abahani’s attacking midfielder Kervens Fils scored a goal on 81 minutes in penalty. 

Bashundhara Kings till now  unbeaten and remain top in the first tier in BPL with 11 victory and bagged 34 points in 12 outings. Abahani, on the other hand, remained in third position in the 13-team table with 22 points from 11 proceedings. They have one match in hand. The Dhanmondi outfit will take on Baridhara on april 4.
