Kings’ out from CL

Bashundhara Kings’ dream ended with the AFC Challenge League after losing to East Bengal by 4-0 at Changlimithang Stadium, Thimphu, Bhutan on Tuesday. 

Bashundhara Kings, who began the campaign with a suicidal goal defeat to Nejmah of Lebanon, saw the humiliation after going   down to East Bengal of India by 4-0.

It was do or die match for Bashundhara Kings to remain in the contest following the first defeat and also a prestigious match for the Bangladesh champions. 

But after the embarrassing defeat to East Bengal, they are now at the bottom of the table failing to earn even a point from last two matches.

However, they will play their last match against the hosts’ Bhutan team Paro FC who have a point after a 1-1 draw with East Bengal.  Nejmah of Lebanon are on top of the table with six points after winning against Bangladesh and Paro FC followed by East Bengal, who managed four points from two matches.

Meanwhile, the champions of the group will move into the next round and Kings have no chance after suffering defeats in both previous matches.  

Despite playing most of the national team players and foreign booters concede all four goals inside half an hour mark of the when game they Est Bengal led by 4-0 inside 33 minutes.   

Vulnerable Kings’ backline looked hapless right from the beginning of the match when East Bengal made the breakthrough just after 30 seconds of the first whistle when they scored rest of three goals inside 33 minutes of the game. 

Though it looked that Kings were going to suffer record goals defeat, but some resistance in the second half did not concede any goal. 

Kings, who tried to bounce back in the second half, produced some scoring chances, but the forwards failed to mark the target even having the opponents’ keeper one on one situation.
