Bangladesh all rounder Shakib Al Hasan had intended to retire from Test cricket on home soil. However, due to ongoing protests, the star all-rounder has not been able to return to Bangladesh. There is also uncertainty about whether Shakib will play in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He has signed with Chittagong Kings for the 11th season, but the franchise cannot confirm his participation.
When asked about Shakib's participation in the BPL, Chittagong Kings' owner Samir Kader Chowdhury told the media, "Nothing is final yet regarding Shakib's participation in the BPL. We haven't received any official communication from the board. We will send a letter to inquire."
If Shakib does not play, Chittagong will need to recruit a new player at the last minute. When asked about their plans, Samir said, "Yes, we have plans in place. We have spoken to three or four players and have almost finalized two. Let's see what happens."
The BPL is set to start on December 30th. Rangpur Riders have already begun their preparations for the tournament. When asked about Chittagong Kings' practice schedule, the franchise owner said, "The coach and some players will join the team early, possibly between December 15th and 20th. Shaun Tait and Enamul Haque will arrive by then. We will start our practice sessions soon after to ensure we are well-prepared before the matches."
Chittagong Kings are returning to the BPL after many years. The franchise is also planning a significant event to unveil their new jersey, "Yes, fans are always excited about their favourite team's jersey.
We will take that into consideration. If everything goes well,
we plan to hold an unveiling event next week."
