Kings eye fifth successive win

The fifth round of matches of the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football will kick off with three matches scheduled for the day at Gopalganj, Mymensingh and Rajshahi on Friday. 

In-form Bashundhara Kings are eyeing a fifth consecutive win as they will face Dhaka Abahani Krira Chakra at 2:45 p.m. at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium on the day. 

Bashundhara Kings earned a 3-0 victory over Sheikh Jamal at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in their last league match, their fourth straight win, leaving the visitors atop the table on 12 points. 

Abahani are in third place with seven points through four matches. The Sky Blue Brigade also won their last match 3-1 against Sheikh Russel. 

When the two sides last met in BPL action, Kings won 1-0 at Bashundhara Kings Arena last season. Dori scored Bashundhara Kings' only goal in the 21st minute.

Federation Cup champions Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will face Chittagong Abahani  at 2:45 p.m. at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, while  Brothers Union (BU) will also encounterSheikh Jamal DC at 2:45 pm at the Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium Rajshahi on the day. .

MSC sit in second place on 10 points, two points behind first-placed Bashundhara Kings after four encounters. The Black & Whites won their last match 3-2 at Mymensingh Stadium against Bangladesh Police, extending their unbeaten season start to four (Wins 3 Draws 1 Losses 0).

On the other hand, the port city club drew with BU  2-2 at Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in their last match to extend their winless streak to three (Wins 0 Draws 2 Losses 1), leaving them in ninth place on two points.

When the two sides last met in BPL, MSC won 2-1 at Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium last season. Souleymane Diabate led Mohammedan with two goals in the 60th and 73rd minutes. Mohamed Tarek scored Abahani Chittagong's only goal in the 81st minutes.
