Khulna University celebrates its 29th founding anniversary

Teachers, students and employees of Khulna University (DU) on Monday celebrated the KU Day amid great enthusiasm and traditional festivity on the campus, marking its 29th founding anniversary.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of KU Professor D. Fayquzzaman formally inaugurated the day’s programme in the morning by releasing balloons and pigeons at Shaheed Hadi Chattar (Square). Later, a colourful procession was brought out on the campus. The VC led the colourful procession, largely attended by teachers, students, officials and employees of the university that paraded different parts of the campus.

To mark the day, a cake was cut by VC at Muktomancha of KU campus where, Registrar, Treasurer, Deans, Provosts, Proctors and Student Affair Director were present.

Academic fair, discussion, cultural events and candlelight are the highlights of the days programme.

In observance of the KU Day, the whole campus including administrative, senate and cafeteria buildings, dormitories, roads and main gate were colourfully decorated.

KU started its academic activities formally on November 25 in 1991 with four disciplines under two schools with only 80 students and 30 teachers with Prof Dr. Golam Rahman as it’s the founder Vice-Chancellor (VC), university sources said.

At present, it runs 29 different disciplines under eight schools and two institutes with about 7,000 students and 500 teachers, the sources added.
