The 10th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T-20 cricket league will kick off on January 19. All the players are very busy for the upcoming tournament.
On the opening day, reigning champions the Comilla Victorians will face Durdanto Dhaka at 2:00 p.m. at Shere-E-Bangla Stadium.
On other days, Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Strikers face each other at 7:00 p.m. at the same venue.
The pressure on practice will be light at the Academy Ground, Mirpur. Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians will practice on their home grounds. Khulna Tigers do their jobs at BKSP. Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Strikers will exercise at Purbachal Ground.
Khulna Tigers coach Talha Jubair said, “We get every kind of facility at BKSP. We can use the indoor facilities of the institutions. We can practice on this very special system. We want to fulfill our plan, so I choose BKSP ground."
Asking the Khulna coach why they have no ground, though the BPL started almost a decade ago, Talha Jubair replied, "Actually, ground problems are a major issue for the participating teams. When I was a player, there was no ground except Abahani Limited. But there is no match played at the Abahani ground nowadays.”
“We need a venue in Dhaka. There will be an academy at Purbachal, and we hope that there will be a lot of ground and field for practice. We will try to get a home venue in the next season,” said the coach.
A total of seven teams will take part in the prestigious tournament. The tournament will run from January 19 to March 1. The matches will take place at four venues across the country.
