Khulna GRP OC, 4 other cops sued over Khulna gang rape

A case was filed against five policemen including Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna GRP (railway) Police Station Osman Gani Pathan for gang rape of a woman in that police station on August 2. The victim woman herself filed the case with Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 on Monday (September 23).

Lawyer of the plaintiff advocate Md Mominul Islam said the court had accepted the case and asked Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate it. Earlier, as per the directive of a Khulna court, the victim woman also filed a case against these five policemen including the OC with GRP (railway) Police Station on Saturday (August 10).

OC Osman Gani Pathan, duty officer of that night and three unidentified police members were made accused in the case, said, Assistant Superintendent of Kushtia Police (ASP) Firoz Ahmed. On Thursday (August 8), two probe bodies interrogated the woman. OC Osman Gani Pathan and Sub Inspector (SI) Nazmul Haque were closed for gang rape of the woman. On the night of August 2, a woman came to Khulna from Jashore by a train.

She was taken to Khulna Railway Station on charge of mobile theft. Deep at night, Osman Gani Pathan raped her. Later, four other policemen also raped her in turns. Next day, they produced her before the court on charge of having three bottles of phensedyles. The woman disclosed to court about everything happened to her at the night. Judicial magistrate ordered medical test of the incident.
