Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition was rejected after reviewing all the documents. There is no scope for any controversy in this regard.

He said this while talking to journalists after laying foundation stone of Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center beside Akhaura Upazila Parishad Complex in Brahmanbaria.  Mayor of Akhaura Municipality, Takjil Khalifa Kajal, Chairman of Kasba Upazila Parishad Rashedul Kawsar Bhuiyan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Akhaura Tahmina Akhter Reina were also present at that time.

Regarding the accusation by BNP leaders about Khaleda Zia being denied justice, Anisul Huq said that they are giving fabricated statement just to maintain their position in the party. People of the country remember about the misrule and misdeeds of BNP-Jammat government. They do not want to go back to those days. The situation is not the same today, he added. ,

He said, “After hearing the lawyers’ arguments and scrutinizing her medical report, Appellate Division of the Supreme Court did not find necessary ground to grant bail plea of Khaleda Zia as the court did not find her health condition to be critical.”

The Appellate Division on Thursday rejected Khaleda Zia’s petition for bail in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case. However, the six-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, asked the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities to provide the BNP chief with advanced treatment immediately.

Soon after the verdict, BNP said it was frustrated and aggrieved over the order and alleged Khaleda Zia was being deprived of justice.
