The 74th birth anniversary of Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, one of the organizers of the Liberation War and a sports and cultural function has been celebrated.

On the occasion of the day on Saturday morning, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) Managing Director Engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam placed wreaths at the portrait of the heroic freedom fighter martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal temporarily installed in front of the Chattogram District administration's office.

The speakers said that Sheikh Kamal, the symbol of eternal youth, was a brave freedom fighter and one of the organizers of the guerrilla war of the Liberation Army.  During the Great War of Liberation, he also served as the ADC of the Commander-in-Chief of the War of Liberation, General Ataul Gani Osmani.

Despite being born in a political family, Sheikh Kamal lived a very simple life.  He was a cultural and sports organizer.  He also played the traditional Abahani Krirachakra football club.  Besides, Sheikh Kamal, a multi-talented man, was one of the founding organizers of Dhaka Theater and Spandan Art Group.  Had Sheikh Kamal, the symbol of this youth, lived, perhaps the current Bangladesh would have been in a more modern and progressive position in the field of youth, sports and culture.  But unfortunately we lost Sheikh Kamal along with Bangabandhu and his whole family on the night of August 15, 1975.

KGDCL senior officers-employees, Officers Welfare Association and KGDCL Employees Union leaders participated in it.
