Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige refers to ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as the final Avengers film. Joe and Anthony Russo's 2019 film culminated the Infinity Saga; it marked the end of the MCU's first chapter with the defeat of Thanos (Josh Brolin). However, it may also very well be the final film centered on Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
The MCU was kicked off in 2008 via Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, but it wasn't until 2012's The Avengers that Feige's plan for an interconnected franchise was solidified. Its success further motivated Marvel Studios in pushing forward and building its universe. As it exponentially grew over the course of three Phases, the Infinity Saga finally came to an end with Avengers: Endgame. Amidst a string of disappointing finales, the Russos miraculously delivered a satisfying cap-off not only to its collective story but also to some characters' individual arcs.
Fans knew that after Avengers: Endgame, it would take quite a while before another Avengers film would be released. But now, Feige is suggesting that there may no longer be more of them. During his commentary on Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Eternals (via Comic Book), the MCU architect implies that they've completed the Infinity Saga with "the final Avengers movie."
"Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now past their tenth anniversary and with the release of the final Avengers movie, we've finally completed a 22-movie Infinity Saga."
Obviously, this documentary was filmed during the principal photography of Eternals, so not long after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ hit theaters. So perhaps, Feige was referring to it as their latest Avengers film or the final one in the ‘Infinity Saga’.
