Kamanna high school promoting ideology of Liberation War

Kamanna high school under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah has been spreading ideology and spirit of the liberation war among rural children. The educational institution, adjacent to 27 liberation war monument, inspires the learners and others go ahead. The institution has been playing role in education, especially, in women education towards establishing equal rights for both men and women.

A number of students of the school when contacted said they feel comfort as it was free from any political activities and conflict. Class ten student Tazin Yeasmin, class nine student Shamme Khatun and class eight student Ayan Kumar Biswas said the strict principality, love and affections of the teachers led by the headmaster teach them discipline. 

The learners said they feel comfort to use the modern washrooms and drinking water facilities in separate floors for the girls and boys. It teaches them to keep one clean and fresh. They also feel proud to take lesson in the environment-friendly school.

But both the students and teachers facing a lot for want of ad equate furnishers and an auditorium for a long. The problem should be solved at an early date, they mean.

Mazed Ali Sheikh of village Kamanna, a guardian of student when contacted said each and every teacher attends the school before starting the office hours and continue till closure. The students maintain discipline in the academic centre. They also participate in cleaning the school premises as directed by the teachers, the guardian said.

Locals said some education loving patriots namely Madan Mohan Bhowmik, Mollah Mohammad Ishahque, Khan Lutfar Rahman, Kazi Motlebur Rahman, Arshed Ali Biswas among others established the school in 1955 to ensure secondary education for the local children. 

Kamanna high school headmaster Bidhan Chandra Adhikary when contacted said now a total of 543 students including major 314 female students have been studying. But for want of an auditorium they have been arranging seminar, workshop and huge gathering in the room of the headmaster or in any classroom anyway.  For want of adequate furnishers both the students and teachers face troubles round the year.

Treating the school as free from any politics and social conflict, the school-head said a number of classrooms including Seikh Rasel Digital Laboratory, a modern library and a modern science laboratory enriched with huge equipments playing role in educational activities since its establishment 55 years ago. 

Adhikary said his school performed better in the secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations last year as 93 percent of the candidates passed where three of them secured GPA 5 and three others with education stipend. It was higher than the average marks in Jashore board of intermediate and secondary education in last session. Kamanna high school bagged the best prize for its academic activities titled Secondary Education and Access Quality Enhancement Project (SEAQEP) in Shailkupa upazila in 2015. The students of the school have been proving their skill and efficiency in public, private and other sectors in home and abroad.

Upazila secondary education officer (USEO) in Shailkupa Shamim KHan when contacted admired the school said, the monument constructed at the south-west  side of the school to show respect to 27 liberation war martyrs, sacrificed their lives in the early morning of November 26 in 1971, encourage his students go ahead with the spirit of liberation war. The monument encourages the students, teachers and others for liberty, democracy and freedom fighting, USEO said.
