Published : 04 Aug 2022 08:29 PM

A rection of unscrupulous money greedy people have been accused of destroying trees by occupying the forest department land and throwing garbage on the roadside in Gazipur's Kaliakore upazila municipality 7th ward and some points of the upazila. Also, as a result of this, there are various diseases and disasters carried by air and water. Pedestrians and residents have become fed up with this.

Residents found that day after day garbage vans, small and big track vehicles were occupying the forest department land on the east side of the factory (CP) in the direction of the road leading to Pallibidut Khazar Deck in Chandra area of Kaliakore upazila of Gazipur. As a result of this, environmental pollution is occurring, the gazari trees surrounded by green moss are being killed. In this, on the one hand, government resources are encroaching on forest land and on the other hand, green trees are dying and becoming wood. Pollution is the natural environment. Diseases caused by air and water pollution are emerging. As a result, pedestrians and local residents are suffering from various diseases including shortness of breath, asthma, heart disease, flatulence, cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid, fever, skin diseases. The road has turned into a pile of dirt as there is always garbage. Pedestrians and local residents have to suffer from the stench to return home through this road. Also, the excrement is attracted to the dirt and mosquitoes have built their nest here. Who always come to passerby's nose, mouth and body and spread germs. At night, mosquitoes go to the houses of local residents. Residents of the mosquito-ridden area are not getting relief even by using insecticides to kill mosquitoes, coils and mosquitoes. Germ-carrying flies, on the other hand, are constantly buzzing around the dinner table. They sit on the food, spreading germs in the food. It is not possible to move on that road due to rain or any other reason. Because when it rains, piles of dirt come up on the road, disrupting traffic. If one walks on the water during that time, the feet and body will itch due to the touch of the water. It causes skin diseases. Residents demand that all this garbage should be dumped in a specific place instead of being dumped on the forest department's land on the side of the road. This will save the government trees. It can be seen that the incident is happening very close to Chandra Bit Office and Range Office of Forest Department. Right in front of the office, garbage is being dumped on the north side of the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Government and their trees are being killed. But why are the people and officials and employees of the forest department not taking any action against these greedy people? So what is going on by managing them? Conscious circles say. Also, in front of the eyes of the people of the forest department, 10-20 yards nearby, one after another, Gazari trees are being killed and the forest land is being occupied. Multi-storied building with shops, jute godowns. As if there is no one to see!

Jalal, a tenant of Shah Jahan's house in that area, said, I have been living in this area for 15 years. I am a rickshaw driver by profession. A class of dishonest people have been throwing garbage here for 7-8 years. You can't walk on this road with the smell of dirt. But it is a class of unscrupulous people from house to house who throw dirt here in exchange for money. They have very big hands.

Mahbub Alam, the tenant of Noor Islam's house in that area, said that the smell of this dirt has to squeeze the nose and mouth. The smell is nauseating. The smell is much more than what it is now when it rains. This road cannot be passed in rain. The rain actually mixes with the dirty water and comes to the road.

Then if you go through the road, if that water touches your body, itches. Legs become swollen.

Pedestrian Shariful Islam said that there is a lot of damage due to dirt. On one side the damage is to the environment and on the other side the trees are dying. If the people of forest division want to take a measure. Also see all those jute godowns and shops occupying forest land and killing trees.

Khattab Molla, the councilor of the 7th ward of the municipality, said that it is not known who or who throws garbage there in the middle of the night. However, a few days ago, when Mirzapur municipality vehicles dumped garbage here, the locals along with me arrested them. They were later released on bond, promising not to litter here again. Now we are cleaning up all that dirt.

Sharif Khan Chowdhury, officer of Chandra Bit of Kaliakor said, "I don't know who or who sometimes throws garbage there with vans and trucks." However, a class of unscrupulous people collect garbage from house to house and throw garbage here. That's why I informed the Kaliakoi municipality and they are cleaning the garbage now. I plant saplings there
