Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi said the market price of jute would always be monitored to ensure supply of raw jute in the country and speed up the flow of jute and jute products.
The minister made the remarks while meeting a delegation of Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) at the conference room of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Md. Abdur Rauf, Additional (Jute) of the Ministry Taslim Kaniz Nahida, President of Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) Sheikh Syed Ali, Senior Vice Chairman Arju Mia and other leaders of the association and senior officials of the Ministry were present.
He said that jute production has increased manifold in recent years due to proper supply of seeds to ensure jute cultivation as well as providing other inputs to the farmers. As a result, jute mills are able to procure jute continuously which plays an important role in export earnings.
The minister said the jute season has started this year. Raw jute has started coming to the market in different parts of the country. The production of raw jute in this season is also satisfactory. Jute farmers will get good price of good jute. The market for raw jute will always be monitored so that the price of raw jute is not unbearable for any reason.
The minister said effective measures would be taken to ensure supply of raw jute to continue the trend of export earnings of jute and jute products. To prevent unlicensed unscrupulous traders from buying and selling raw materials; To prevent buying and selling of wettles; The Jute Department has been directed to take necessary steps to ensure effective supply of raw jute in the market.
At the time, the inclusion of raw jute in the list of export products subject to conditions in the Export Policy 2021-2024 was discussed. It was decided to discuss the next course of action in consultation with the Ministry of Commerce.
