JUST Teachers Association gets new body

The annual election of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Teachers Association was held on Sunday.

The chairman of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) Dr Mohammad Tofail Ahmed and chairman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Dr Amjad Hossain has been elected as president and general secretary of JUST Teachers Association . 

The polling was held at the gallery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building of the University from 10am to 2pm. 

After the counting of votes results were announced in evening by the Chief Election Commissioner HM Zakir Hossain of the JUST Teachers Association Election Commission. 

JUST Teachers Association sources said, Dr. Mohammad Tofail Ahmed was elected as president with 104 votes. His rival Dr. Saibur Rahman Mollah got 49 votes. Dr. Md. Amjad Hossain was elected as general secretary with 118 votes. His rival Dr. Selina Akhter got 87 votes. 

In addition to the vice-president of the Department of Chemical Engineering (CHE) Associate Professor SM Nur Alam was elected with 124 votes. Assistant Professor of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBT) Md. Abdur Rauf Sarkar elected as Assistant General Secretary with 110 votes, Associate Professor Md. Shahedur Rahman of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBT) Department elected as Treasurer with 112 votes, Assistant Professor Mehedi Hasan of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) elected in the post of Sports and Cultural Secretary with 114 votes, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Department Kishore Kumar Sarkar, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Dr. Md. Farhad Bulbul, Assistant Professor of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE)  Sumon Rahman, Chairman of Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department Dr. Hasan Al-Imran and Assistant Professor of Physics Department Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir has been elected  as  members of the Executive Committee.   Out of a total of 265 voters, 206 votes cast in the election.
