Students and teachers of Barrister Zakir Ahmed College on Thursday staged a human chain and protest rally at Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria demanding the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the brutal murder of the college's former student Farzana Akhter Jui.

The demonstration was held in front of the college premises in the morning, where participants carried placards inscribed with slogans seeking justice for Jui.

Speaking at the protest, students including Fahad, Mukta Akhter and Mariam Akhter said it is unacceptable that a young woman was killed so brutally. Jui was our pride, with a dream of pursuing higher education. That dream has been cut short. The killers must be identified, arrested without delay, and given exemplary punishment.

College Principal Iqbal Hossain said that Jui was a well-behaved girl with a bright future. "We want a proper investigation and the highest punishment for those responsible," he added.

Jui’s father, Abu Hasnat Rana, termed the incident a planned murder. He filed a written complaint with Nabinagar Police Station against unidentified perpetrators, demanding their immediate arrest and exemplary punishment.

According to police and locals, Jui went missing from her home in Laur village early Friday (September 19). Despite frantic searches, she remained untraced. Two days later, on Saturday, locals found her floating body while collecting water hyacinths from a nearby pond. Police later recovered the body and confirmed it was that of the missing student.
