Police arrested two Jubo League leaders of Kushtia Sadar upazila unit in an extortion case on Friday.
The arrestees were identified as Jubo League General Secretary Mijanur Rahman Miju, 36, and Kushtia town unit convener Ashraful Sujon, 40.
Kushtia police chief SM Tanvir Arafat said they arrested Mijanur from Hasanbag School area in Sadar upazila and Ashraful from his home Harishankarpur around 9pm.
“They were accused in an extortion case filed by a local businessman with the Kushtia Islamic University Police Station,” Arafat said.
Police are trying to arrest others named in the case and, “Our drive will continue” added the SP.
