Jubo League leader killed in Tanore

Unidentified assailants killed Jubo League leader of Tanore Upazila Ziaur Rahman (42) on his way home after placing floral wreaths at the Shahid Minar of Tanore Upazila Parishad of Rajshahi around 1-00 a.m. of 21st February. 

Police recovered the dead body of Ziaur Rahman son of late Mohor Mondal of village Bilshahar under Talanda union of Tanore upazila, from the Bilshahar area of the union. Police arrested three suspected persons in this connection. They are- Ayesha Akhtar Sumi(35)  wife of General Secretary of Talanda Union of Awami League Hasan Ali, Forhad Hossain(30) son of Lutfar Rahman and Sohag(26) son of Alauddin of the same area. 

The dead body of the victim has been sent to the morgue of Medical College Hospital for autopsy. 

It is learnt, to place floral wreaths Ziaur Rahman arrived at Tanore Upazila Parishad premises on 21 February night. Local MP Omor Faruk Chowdhury was also supposed to arrive there. After placing flowers at the Shahid Minar Ziaur Rahman was returning home on a motorbike around 1-00 a.m. but he was assassinated at the entrance of the village by tying two hands. legs and by slitting his throat and the tendons. 

Local people informed the assassinated Ziaur worked for the defeated MP candidate Golam Rabbani during the last Parliamentary Elections. After the victory of MP Omor Faruk Chowdhury, a clash erupted between his supporters with the supporters of General Secretary of the Union, UP Member Hasan Ali. Recently, miscreants set ablaze the Insecticide shop of Hasan Member at night which also increased the rivalry between the groups. 

Rabiul Islam, elder brother of Ziaur informed, that the miscreants also attacked their house to kill his brother. His brother was killed as a sequel to the rivalry. He demanded immediate arrest and punishment for the accused. 

Anowar Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Tanore Police Station informed, the dead body has been sent to the morgue of the hospital for autopsy. Three suspected persons have been held for interrogation in this connection.
