A group of VC backed teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday brought out a silent procession against the allegations of corruption and irregularities brought against the vice-chancellor and her family members.

Under the banner of “Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad”, the teachers brought out the procession from the university's Social Science Faculty premises around 11:30 am. Marching on different roads of the campus the procession ended in front of the administrative building followed by a rally.

Prof Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, President of “Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad” said, “Our Vice-Chancellor is in charge for the second time. She, in her capacity, has approached the government with the approval and funding of the project. But a group is trying to stop it. We want to tell them that no power can stop it.”

On the conduction of Prof Dr. Alamgir Kabir, 70 teachers were presented at the rally including General Secretary of “Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad” Prof Bashir Ahmed, Acting Dean of Faculty of Sociology Prof Rasheda Akhtar.
