JU teacher adjudged ‘best writer’ in Nepal

Dr Tariqul Islam, an associate professor of the Government and Politics department of Jahangirnagar University (JU), has been nominated for this year's ‘Best Writer’ by a Nepali national English daily ‘KhabarHub’.

He has been selected at the international category and informed via email on Wednesday.  Prof Tariqul Islam himself confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post.

Dr Tariqul was nominated for his contributions to the local government, disaster management, good governance, sustainable development and the Rohingya issue. He has a summation of total 20 articles including five specific interviews in this year.

He will receive the award at the next founding anniversary progamme of the daily. Dr Tariqul expressed satisfaction over the nomination.

Articles written by Dr Tariqul on various topics have been published and appreciated in various popular journals around the world such as Routledge, Elsevier, Sage, Springer, Oxford, etc. He is a regular contributor to the South Asia related blog of London School of Economics and the New Delhi based policy web journal 'South Asia Monitor'.

A visiting research fellow at Oxford University and a visiting scholar at Cambridge University, Tariqul was a guest faculty at Jadavpur University in India and Tribhuvan University in Nepal.

He joined Jahangirnagar University in 2014 after working at different UN organisations for several years.
