JU Prof Mamun gets TWAS fellowship

Dr AA Mamun, professor of Physics department at Jahangirnagar University (JU), has been nominated as a fellow of The World Academy of Science (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries. 

JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam, Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad and students of the university congratulated him for his achievement.  

In a congratulatory massage, Prof Farzana said, “The university authorities are happy and proud to get this fellowship of Prof AA Mamun.  The university has been enriched by his achievement.” She wished a successful and long career for the renowned scientist. 

Recently, Dr Mamun has been selected among the top two percent of the most cited scientists in the world in a journal published by Stanford University based researchers in the US.

Earlier, in 2009, for his outstanding contribution to physics, he won Fredric William Basel Research Award from Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation in Germany and he was selected as a fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences in 2019.
