JU Prof Khalil among top 2pc

Professor Dr Md Ibrahim Khalil of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been ranked among the most cited researchers of the world in a renowned journal named PLOS Biology published by Stanford University.  

Stanford University professor John Ioannidis -a specialist in meta-science, or the study of science using scientific methods -worked alongside US-based Kevin W Boyack and the Netherlands-based Jeroen Baas to release the exhaustive list of 1,59,683 scientists in various disciplines. Each scientist is placed on the list based on the number of citations from their research work. 

Prof Khalil has 110 publications in prominent research journals across the world and over 450 citations in 2019. In his field, Complementary and Alternative medicine, food science and Clinical medicine, he has been ranked 54.    

Dr. Khalil completed his post-doctorate from University Sains Malaysia.  And he was also a visiting research fellow from 2014 to 2018 at University Sains Malaysia.  

He started his teaching career in 2004 by joining Jahangirnagar University as a lecturer.

Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) also congratulated him for this achievement.

As many as 56 Bangladeshi researchers made their places among the top two percent of the most cited researchers in 2019.
