Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader on Wednesday said that JP wants to be the opposition party in the 12th parliament.

He made these remarks while talking to reporters after taking oath at the National Parliament on Wednesday.

The JP Supremo further said “The feeling of coming to Parliament is always good. I am glad to be back in Parliament.”

In response to a query of the reporter about the opposition party in the 12th parliament, he said: "I don't know exactly what the rule is. But we were in opposition and want to remain in opposition. We are public welfare-oriented and we want to do what is good for the people."

About the latest protests over the poor performance of JP in the national polls, he said,  “Some people are trying to question our party or tarnish its image. What has been done has been discussed with everyone.”

Regarding being elected in so few seats in this year's parliamentary elections, he said: “Everything is not the same all the time. This election was not the right election. However, in most cases, our activists have been harassed in various ways and their booths have been occupied.”

The JP chief said, "In truth, our popularity or the base we have with the people has not been properly reflected in the results of this election."
