Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said during an exchange of views with journalists at Chattogram Press Club, the role of journalists is essential in building Smart Chattogram.

Chattogram has special significance for various reasons.  So an initiative will be taken to gazette Chattogram as a commercial capital.  A city has many elements.  A smart city will develop only if all elements are smart.  Projects should be adopted and implemented based on the reflection of public opinion.  That will make the task of achieving the desired goal much easier.

Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said these things while interacting with journalists at the PHP VIP Lounge of the Press Club on Saturday.  Before his speech, various aspects of Smart Chattogram planning and implementation as well as benefits were presented through a projector.

He said that the proposal to establish a cancer hospital in Chattogram has been submitted to the Prime Minister.  Besides, the issue of setting up dialysis center has also been highlighted.  Hope to get immediate benefits in this regard.  Initiatives have also been taken for greening and increasing playgrounds in Chattogram.  Efforts are being made to create a genuine environment for education along with increasing the attendance of students in government schools.  District administration will have a special role in any plan to make Chattogram Press Club self-supporting.

Smart Bus is being launched in Chattogram as part of Smart City.  The purpose of these buses is to ensure safe transportation of students, reduce the suffering of parents and reduce traffic congestion and play a role in preventing accidents.

When the students board the smart bus, a short message will be sent to the parents' mobile phones.  Parents can see whether their child is on the bus by sitting at home or at work.

Chattogram Press Club President Salahuddin Md Reza presided over the meeting.  Debdulal Bhowmik, General Secretary of the Press Club, gave a welcome speech on the occasion.
