A journalist had died in a road accident in Jhenaidah while he was undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital at about 2 am of Wednesday. The deceased was Abu Selim Mia, 55, son of Abdur Razzaque of village Dakbangla under Jhenaidah Sadar police station. Selim was the correspondent of Daily Jababdihi. Selim sustained injury in his head by an unknown motorbike at about 9 pm of Tuesday.  But the police in Jhenaidah is doubtful about the death of Selim Mia. They had taken two women into custody for interrogation and hunting another woman and a young man who might be involved with the incident. When they will get the post mortem report from the hospital, will be able to detect the reason behind the death, said additional superintendent of police in Jhenaidah Sadar Circle Mir Abidur Rahman. Selim’s son-in-law Imtiaz Hossain said his father-in-law (Selim) returned from Kushtia at about 9 pm on Tuesday. Later, he sustained injuries in his head by an unidentified motorbike.

He was taken to Jhenaidah 250-bed General Hospital in a critical state where the attending physicians had referred him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Selim died at about 2am on Wednesday while he was undergoing treatment, on the other hand, Mamata Khatun, wife of Selim in an allegation to the officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenaidah police station said his husband might be killed anyway.

She had demanded arrest of the killers.

Jhenaidah Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Abidur Rahman said they were almost informed of the death of journalist Selim but waiting for a certain confirmation from two other suspects and the post-mortem report. They are hopeful of detecting the clue and grilling the persons involved with the incident.
