A total of 144 criminals have been arrested across the country in the past seven days during operations led by Bangladesh’s joint forces, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
The detainees include illegal arms holders, drug traffickers, suspects in the July uprising case, and individuals under the influence of drugs. The forces recovered 13 illegal firearms, 2 tear gas shells, 2 cartridges, 6 hand grenades, 13 crude bombs, 13 rounds of various ammunition, both local and foreign narcotics, sharp weapons, unauthorised fishing nets, cash, mobile phones, and other stolen items.
All arrested individuals have been handed over to local police stations for further questioning and legal procedures.
To ensure public safety, the Bangladesh Army continues to carry out regular patrols and security measures in various regions. The army is also actively involved in fire-fighting efforts and maintaining order in industrial zones experiencing worker unrest.
The ISPR emphasised that such operations will continue to help maintain law and order nationwide. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp.
