JnUTA stage demo to come out of GST admission system

Published : 03 Apr 2023 09:15 PM

The Jagannath University Teachers Association (JnUTA) staged a protest on Monday to demand an end to the GST admission system and the implementation of its own admission system.

The teachers held a human chain in front of Shaheed Minar of the university and gathered at the VC room to express their discontent. Following the protest, the JnUTA leaders called for the formation of a committee and a syndicate to address their demands.

According to JnUTA, the GST admission system was imposed on Jagannath University without proper planning and has resulted in session congestion. The leaders also claimed that decisions made during the Academic Council meeting on March 15 were recorded inaccurately. JnUTA has called for the university to follow its own admission laws and threatened to take actions if the administration fails to do so.

After meeting with the university VC Prof. Dr Imdadul Haque, JnUTA President Prof. Dr. Ainul Islam announced that their demands had been accepted and an Academic meeting was called on April 5 and 6. The VC has agreed to form a central and unit-based committee to address the concerns and present the findings during the syndicate meeting on April 8.

JnU Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Imdadul Haque said that the final decisions will be made during the syndicate meeting.
