Jagannath University (JnU) is now grappling with appointing a new Treasurer as the current term will end on November 26. Though there are two months in hand, some senior professors of the university are alleged to keep rushing into the ministry and govt. departments for lobbying pausing classes and exams.

The university Teachers’ Association is continuously giving statements demanding the appointment of a new Treasurer from the current internal university teachers.

There is a rumor that the Teachers’ Association President Prof. Dr. Ainul Islam has been showing interest in becoming Treasurer as he resigned from the Director of university Students Welfare Association. His keen interest is mirrored in his recent engagement in newspapers and television to draw the attention of the government high officials. He has been criticized over and over for interfering and doing nepotism in club elections like debating society and journalists association.

A professor of the Chemistry department and General Secretary of the Teacher's Association AbulKalam Md. Lutfor Rahman also kept himself in competition for Treasurer position. He is accused of beating a professor of Geography and Environment department at a meeting of the Academic Council although later he apologised for that. He is also accused of interfering in the Teacher's Association election for the White team.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Hosen, former Teachers Association president, has interest in the Treasurer position and set himself in the top row. Though he promised not to take any administration position, he was criticized for taking responsibility of Dean. He was also associated in beating a professor although later he apologised for that.

Statistics department Professor Dr. Ashraful Alam, Syndicate member of Jahangirnagar University and former Teachers Association President, is in talks for the candidate.

Former Treasurer and Accounting and Information Systems Professor Dr. Shoukot Jahangir is also one of the racers in the list.

Prof. Dr. Kamaluddin Ahmed, Treasurer of this term and former JnU Proctor, took his responsibility in 2019 through a notice of ministry. So far in his career he is former JnU proctor, former Chairman of JnU English department and former Vice-chancellor of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University. He seems to be Treasurer again as he has peak possibility.
