Jhikargachha Municipality poll held peacefully

Voting is being held in Jhikargachha Municipality of Jashore on Sunday after 21 years. Voting has started from 8 am in 14 centers of 9 wards through a huge festival and joyous atmosphere. Police have arrested six polling agents on the orders of an executive magistrate for keep the mobile phones at a BM High School polling station.

After 21 years, voters have been voting in a long line of men and women in the people's representative election since morning. They are happy to vote in a festive atmosphere.

In this election, 6 candidates are contesting for the post of mayor, 64 candidates for the post of councilor and 18 candidates for the post of female councilor. A total of 25,994 voters will cast their votes in 86 polling stations in 14 centers. In all of them, voting is being done in EVM.

Meanwhile, after 21 years, with the election of Jhikargachha municipality, there has been a great festive mood among the voters. According to the presiding officers, every effort has been made to ensure smooth voting and the turnout has been high from the beginning. Jashore Deputy Commissioner Tamizuddin Khan said the election was free and fair

In addition to the 545 police personnel deployed in the centers of the nine wards, BGB and RAB Ansar members are also deployed. Outside of this, a striking force led by a magistrate and members of the detective police are in charge of security.

Meanwhile, BM High School has been accused of keeping mobile phones with polling agents at polling stations . Police have arrested them to the instructions of the executive magistrate.
