People from all walks of life are happy with the police and local administration for arresting a primary school teacher Pintu Majumder of Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah for his alleged involvement in posting some objectionable and offensive comments about the Prophet (S), Islam, militant communalism and journalist in his Facebook status.
Pintu Majumder is a son of Chandi Majumder of Kumiradah village of Abaipur union under Shailkupa upazila. He has been serving as an assistant teacher at Raghunandanpur government primary school. Shailkupa station police arrested him on Wednesday evening from his village home.
Police sources said Pintu had posted objectionable comments through his Facebook account about the Prophet, Islam, militant communalism, and journalist.
As the comments spread faster, thousands of people expressed their concern and demanded immediate arrest of the man. Shailkupa upazila parishad Chairman Shikder Mosharraf Hossain along with in charge of Hatfazilpur police outpost rushed to his house at night and brought the situation under control arresting the teacher.
Upazila parishad Chairman Shikder Mosharraf Hossain when contacted said no one can escape legal action for such activities,as the government is concern about the rights of all classes of people irrespective of cast and creed.
Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jhenidah Mohammad Hasanuzzman when contacted said they had arrested the teacher and sent him to court for legal steps. Police filed a case against Pintu Majumder under digital security act, he added.
