The consumer rights department officials and members of Rapid Action Battalion seized huge amount of banned and date expired medicine and contra banned items from the house of a drug shop owner and fined him in Jhenidah on Tuesday night.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, a spokesman of Jhenidah RAB camp Shafiqur Rahman said acting on a tip off, along with the assistant director of the consumer right department Suchandan Mandal, they conducted the drive in the house of drug vendor Baktiar Rahman at Arappur in Jhenidah town.
The law enforcers found huge quantity of banned drugs produced by Seema Pharmaceuticals Limited, although the drugs of the said company was banned earlier. The law enforcers also seized other drugs and sealed off the huge amount of drugs found there.
Assistant director of the consumer right department in Jhenidah Suchandan Mandal said they had sent the samples for testing. The trader was fined Taka 45 thousand and taken to custody, during the drive.
